It's actually encoded into the start of the. The channel names I display for Recordings come from the recording metadata, it tells me what channel name to display, I don't do any type of lookup there. One note about this - you will still get the EPG (short, like "WBFF") channel names for recordings, provided the HDHomeRun RECORD engine isn't set up differently for DVB. There are only two places I can get it from - the EPG or the tuners, the new option works and allows you to use whichever you prefer! I've defaulted this to off, since this is the first time this has come up and the bulk of users are here in the US and as we've noted - our metadata is crap :) I think this is what you want, the descriptions in Kodi will match what you see in HDHomeRun Setup and the HDHomeRun App (confirmed both). I've reverted back to stock config, and will try setting another timer and see what happens. P.S: I did have a recording event i added that never started, but my NAS (QNAP) was setup with a QNAP Add-on that "pulled" recordings from the HDHomeRun hardware, as a pose to Kodi "pushing" the recordings via SiliconDust's software, or via Kodi. This makes it difficult to decipher what channel your looking at in Kodi versus the "full" channel names the SiliconDust app is able to decipher from the EPG data / mux data. This information contains the (full) extended channel names, where as the streams only contain abbreviated channel names, which are limited to about 4-8 characters. I'll follow up this post with some screenshots when I get a bit more time.Įssentially, the way OTA updates work in the UK, is that each transmitter has 4-5 muxes, and the channel names (and numbers) are broadcast separately to the channel streams, but on the same mux as the actual streams as far as I'm aware. The system used for testing was a full-sized HTPC based on a Core-i5 4670K with a GTX950 graphics card and 16GB RAM, so I think it's more than capable of handling this. Did have a couple of minor stutters during playback last night, but it wasn't a major problem, and at this early stage, can't put that down to your add-on with any great degree of confidence anyhow. If you want, I can provide you with screenshots of what i'm seeing in the SiliconDust App versus what I'm seeing in Kodi.Īs for general functionality, Playing channels works fine.
